Deux Amis commemorates the landmark collaboration between Belgium’s Brasserie Dupont and America’s Lost Abbey Brewery.
This collaboration brings together two highly esteemed brewers who have long admired each other’s work–Olivier Dedeycker, the fourth-generation Master Brewer at Dupont and Tomme Arthur, the acclaimed Brew Master of Lost Abbey.
Brewed in Belgium using techniques perfected over almost a hundred years, Deux Amis receives its decidedly state-side flavor from the addition of American Amarillo and Simcoe hops. The result of this kinship is a dry, refreshing Old World Saison full of peppery spice that finishes with New World flavors of floral orange and earthy pine.
Meet the Brewers
Brasserie Dupont was established in 1844 on a farm in Tourpes, Belgium. Today the land still operates as a farm, including a small cheese-making facility alongside the brewery that produces Dupont’s impeccable collection of classic Belgian beers. The brewery is most well-known for producing Saison Dupont Vieille Provision, the most admired and imitated Saison in the world.
At the helm of the brewery is Master Brewer Olivier Dedeycker, the fourth generation member of the Dupont family to practice the craft of brewing. He has devoted himself to preserving the family’s traditional brewing techniques to produce exceptional beers.
With bold flavors of spicy peppercorn and notes of brioche, Saison Dupont has long been recognized as the benchmark of the Saison style.
The simple origins of the Saison style make this beer a brilliant companion to dishes like burgers, barbecued meat and spicy dishes.
Lost Abbey Brewery
Lost Abbey is one of the most respected craft breweries in America—despite their short brewing history—due to the quality of the imaginative Belgian-inspired beers they produce.
Tomme Arthur is the current brewmaster and driving force behind Lost Abbey, having brewed commercially for over 20 years, and is responsible for the innovative and creative beers the brewery makes.
Tomme has been named “Small Brewer of the Year” and “Brewer of the Year” at the International Beer Cup, and is consistently noted as one of the most recognized and award-winning brewers in the United States.
Lost Abbey is an example of the quintessential American craft brewery — They brew innovative beers using modern techniques, but still pay homage to the styles and beer culture that has been passed on to them from European brewers.
Deux Amis Tasting Notes
A complex and thirst-quenching beer, Deux Amis has the trademark flavor of Dupont’s signature peppery yeast accentuated with vibrant notes of tropical fruit—grapefruit, passion fruit, mandarin and mango—all balanced by aromatic hints of clove and pine.
It makes the perfect companion to spicy cuisines, stir-fries, fresh fish and bright, citrus-y marinades.
